Here, you can find all the resources you may need to host and run your own Open Tournament.
By following the steps below you will have all the required information to enter your tournament in the OVC Open Tournament Tour.
How to document an Official Open Tournament:
-
-
Have all players sign in on the SignIn Sheet.
-
Check the tournament category based on rule 4.2. in the OVC OTT Rule Set (or see the table below).
-
Determine all Major Seeds (and potential Minor Seeds) according to the Elo Ranking of the players, following rule 4.2.2.
-
If there are not enough ranked players to fill all seeds, please use Wildcard Seeds or hold an unseeded tournament according to rules 4.2.3. or 4.2.4.
-
Place all Major Seeds into their seeded groups, starting with the highest seed in every group, then the next highest per group and so on. Use the following groups from the Group Stage Sheet:
-
Category | Teams | Seeded Groups | Drawn Groups |
6 | 36 - 44 | A - D | Z - S |
5 | 24 - 32 | A - D | Z - W |
4 | 18 - 22 | A - B | Z - X |
3 | 12 - 16 | A - B | Z - Y |
2 | 9 - 11 | A | Z - Y |
1 | 6 - 8 | A | Z |
Should groups have to be filled with 4 teams instead of 3, Drawn Groups are filled first from Z to S, then Seeded Groups are filled from A to D.
Example: For a Category 3 tournament with 15 participating teams, 6 Major Seeds are placed in the following order: A1, B1, A2, B2, A3, B3. Groups Z, Y, and A are filled with 4 teams, group B is filled with 3 teams, meaning 1 Minor Seed is added to group A.
Now, groups Z and Y are randomly drawn from the 8 remaining, unseeded teams.
Once all teams are placed into their groups, follow the Group Stage Sheet to determine group seeding.
Once group seeding is determined, use the PlayIn Stage Sheet for the corresponding tournament category to determine all placements for the Finals Stage.
Once Finals Stage seeding is determined, use the Finals Stage Sheet to conclude the tournament.
